Traditionally, the weighing machine is a part of human life, and no human life activity is carried out without a weighing scale. Traditionally, we used mechanical scales which are used for various activities and gradually, mechanical scales have turned into electronic scales.

The mechanical scale consists of many mechanical parts, levers and springs and dials to display the weight. In the electronic scale, besides the above, we also have electronic components and software for better understanding, conversions, user-friendly operations, summons. Here the technology that is mainly used, the strain gauge, the electromagnetic force restoration – EMFR (or) the electromagnetic force compensation – EMFC and finally the tuning fork technology.

The construction of a weighing instrument means many “devices”, to fulfill a specific function, whatever the physical realization. The apparatus can be a small or a large part composed of parts such as load receptor, load transmitting device, load measuring device and load indicating device.

The load receptor is a part of the instrument intended to receive the load, for example the weighing pan / the top pan of the instrument where the weight of the material is measured; we have different MOC like mild steel and stainless steel. The load transmitting device is a part of the instrument to transmit the force produced by the load acting on the load receptor to the load measuring device is nothing but the total weighing frame. There are different MOC structures such as mild steel and stainless steel in the weighing frames. In some of the larger machines, the load receptors and the load transmitting devices are combined in one piece.

The integral part of the weighing machine is the load measuring device. It is a part of the instrument for measuring the mass of the load by means of a balance device to balance the force from the load transmitting device to an indicating or printing device. This part is usually called the load cell.

Finally, the load indicating device is part of the instrument, nothing but the electronic device of an instrument that performs the analog-to-digital conversion of the load cell output signal, and then processes the data, and displays the weighing result in mass units.

Platform scales: how do they work?

On the platform scale, an object is placed to be weighed, and the scale does the rest of the work. In addition to applying a compressive force to the platform, the object also transmits the force to the platform scale mechanism which converts it into a weight measurement that the user can read and record. A platform scale indicator displays the reading at the end of the process.

Types of platform scales

Bench scales

Platform scales that fit on table tops, counters, and workstations are called bench scales. They are more compact than floor scales and take up less space. The object to be weighed is placed on the table scale pan, which can be removed for easy cleaning. Bench scales have a lower weight capacity than floor scales. Bench scales are not ideal for weighing oversized items.

Bench scales are used for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. Bench scales are programmed and automated to increase their usefulness and improve production, service quality and efficiency. Based on the weight of the items, a processing system is used to quickly calculate. The capacity of the Smart Bench scales varies from 3 kg to 30 kg.

Heavy Duty Industrial Platform Scales

They are commonly found in factories, warehouses and transportation companies. They are designed to lift heavier weights and survive harsh and dangerous conditions. Heavy duty low profile floor scales:

The top of the platform is angled between 1 and 2 inches above the ground. This makes manual loading and unloading easier for the worker, while making mobile equipment more accessible. To facilitate the loading and unloading of objects, a hinged ramp can be added on the edge of the scale.

Washing scales

A wash scale features IP-rated stainless steel construction and full weatherproofing, allowing it to withstand frequent, thorough cleaning with a pressure washer or hose. To withstand harsh industrial or wet environments, laundry scales are built. Floor wash scales are durable and can handle larger and heavier loads. Floor scales are ideal because they are very versatile, allowing you to use a single scale to perform multiple functions. These scales are often used in food processing areas, commercial warehouses and shipyards to weigh bulk items and for many other purposes. The capacity of the Smart Floor Washdown scales ranges from 300 kg to 1500 kg.

Pallet scales

The pallet truck and associated handling equipment load the palletized products in the middle of the U-shaped floor scale for weighing in pallet scales (or U-shaped scales). This eliminates the need for a ramp and promotes space efficiency by eliminating the need for material handling equipment to maneuver at the edge of the scale during loading and unloading. The capacity of smart pallet scales ranges from 1000 kg to 2000 kg.
